Cool -Ainle Bosses

AINLE BOSSES
Ah, the burning town of Ainle. Although still pretty easy, the bosses here begin to require some semblance of skill to survive. If you’re a competent player, though, you shouldn’t have many problems.

Boss: Servant of Twilight
Location: A Town Engulfed
Appearance: a large goblin with two lines tattooed vertically down its face across its eyes, wielding a club with a large nail sticking through it.
Health Bars: 3
Difficulty: Easy
Attacks:
-Double Smash: smashes in front of him with the club, then smashes forward again. Dodge to the side to avoid.
-Smash & Slide: the boss swings his club overhead with one hand and plants it in the ground, then slides diagonally to the right hitting anything in the way. Just dodge out of the way or stay to his left.
Strategy: The Servant of Twilight is an extremely simple boss since this is only the first battle for this Boat. You shouldn’t have any trouble. Just use the same strategy you usually do.

Boss: Information Chief Kalis
Location: Hell Beyond the Door, Wake Up Call
Appearance: a very large goblin with a ponytail, covered in red body paint/blood and tattoos, wielding a large scimitar
Health Bars: 4
Difficulty: Average
Attacks:
-Overhead Swing: this attack is back, and it’s kind of slow again. Now, however, it has a larger range, and tracks during startup. Dodge to the side to avoid.
-Approaching Slash: the boss roars, grips his weapon with both hands and lowers it back to his weapon side. He then runs forward and performs an uppercut slash at his current target. If you start running when you see him use this you can outdistance him, but otherwise just dodge to the side when he slashes.
-Spin Slash: the boss hunches down a bit, lowers his weapon to his opposite side, and then lunges forward while spinning the scimitar around him twice. This hits all around him, so avoid it by moving to the side and out of range until it finishes.
Other Notes: he spawns with Servant of Hell in Wake Up Call, but only Kalis needs to be killed to complete the battle.
Strategy: A decently easy boss to fight by this point, but can still pose a threat if you just charge in. Watch his movements carefully, and be cautious. That’s all I can say.

Boss: Servant of Hell
Location: Ellis’ Trust, Hell Beyond the Door (miniboss), Wake Up Call
Appearance: a large blue goblin with a mottled, glowing skin pattern, wielding a pickaxe
Health Bars: 3
Difficulty: Easy
Attacks:
-Smash & Slide: same as Servant of Twilight, but inflicts Tetanus if you get hit by his rusty pickaxe, slowly taking down your HP in chunks for the duration of the effect.
-Lunging Attack: the boss crouches down on his hands and feet as is preparing to propel himself forward quickly…which he then does, launching himself straight ahead. This cover quite a bit of distance, and inflicts Tetanus.
-Leapfrog: the boss rears back his head and roars, then jumps up into the air and crashes back down to the ground a short distance ahead, dealing damage to anyone he lands on, as well as infecting them with Tetanus. He performs between one and three jumps in a row with short pauses in between when he uses this, but the number of jumps seems to be random. He can slightly alter direction between jumps but does not make any extreme changes in direction (i.e. greater than 90 degrees). When you see him use this, just dodge out to the side and then follow him.
Other Notes: does not have to be killed to complete the battle in Wake Up Call.
Strategy: This guy is pretty easy. He has some downtime after his Lunge and Leapfrog attacks. His Tetanus is just as effective as other damage over time effects, but takes off HP in chunks at intervals instead of a steady drain. Just be cautious, and he’ll go down easily.

Boss: The Ashen
Location: Friend or Foe, Piercing the Crescent Moon/Being from the Other World (miniboss)
Appearance: a vampire wearing a white robe
Health Bars: 3
Difficulty: Easy
Attacks:
-Double Claw: the boss makes a pose like it’s going to punch you, and then quickly claws twice in front of it, just like the normal vampire enemies. Dodge to the side.
-Fire Claw: the boss throws both arms backwards, and its hands start emitting flames. It then lunges forward clapping its hands together creating an explosion. Just dodge to the side when he uses this.
Strategy: The Ashen is an easy boss. You shouldn’t need any advice.

Boss: The Red Bearer
Location: Piercing the Crescent Moon, The Blood Prince (miniboss)
Appearance: a vampire wearing a striped red robe, wielding an arm-mounted spear.
Health Bars: 4
Difficulty: Average
Attacks:
-Straight Spear Combo: the boss stands at attention and holds its spear arm upright, emitting a distinctive clicking sound. Afterwards, it will perform two stabs straight forward. Simply evade to the side after you see the startup, since this has no horizontal range.
-Tracking Spear Combo: the boss shifts his spear horizontally to the opposite side, then performs a horizontal slash followed by a stab. This move tracks the target’s movement for the duration of the attack. Back away to avoid the slash, then dodge to avoid the stab. Make sure you get far away enough if you try to outrange the stab, since it has longer range than it looks.
-Clockwise 180: the boss places a hand on his face, then spins around to face the opposite direction while flicking the spear to his side to strike a pose, dealing low damage to anyone nearby. This attack has little warning beforehand. If you can see it coming, back off to avoid unnecessary damage.
-Counterclockwise 180: the boss holds his spear out to the side and quickly slashes, the momentum turning him around in the opposite direction. Evade by backing off as with the other 180 attack.
Strategy: Like all bosses, stay alert. The Straight Combo only attacks in one direction, so evade to the side when it is used and attack. Be careful of his 180 attacks since they’re pretty fast, and can throw you off balance if you attack him mindlessly, which you shouldn’t be doing.

Miniboss: Greid
Location: Ulchas’ Relic (miniboss), The Unveiling Truth
Appearance: a giant blood jelly
Health Bars: 4
Difficulty: Average
Attacks:
-Bash Attack: the boss winds up and then bashes you with the top part of its body, like the smaller blood jellies do. It uses the same animation, so just dodge when you see it coming.
-Splat Attack: the boss flattens itself against the floor, attacking anyone around it. This comes out pretty fast, so try to anticipate Greid’s attack and get away in time to avoid it.
-Spawn: the boss splits off parts of itself to form new blood jellies. Just kill them if they’re in your way and then go back to attacking Greid.
Strategy: Greid is like the wisp minibosses in that he has few startup animations. The same strategy should be applied: attack, then get away when you think it’s about to attack. The Spawn attack also makes this battle a great place to farm the jellies for titles.

Boss: The Blood Drinker
Location: Ulchas’ Relic, The Blood Prince (miniboss)
Appearance: a vampire wearing a fancy red robe.
Health Bars: 4
Difficulty: Average
Attacks:
-Fireball: the boss holds one hand up and gathers fire in it, then throws it at you. If it hits, it’ll set you On Fire and constantly burn away your HP. Dodge right as he throws it to avoid.
-Tracking Fireball: the boss waves both hands around in front of it, charging up a fireball between them. Still sets you On Fire. This fireball tracks you at two points in its flight, but can be dodged just as easily.
-Fire Claw: the same as The Ashen.
-Fire Wave: the boss starts waving both hands above its head and emits fire from then, then slams them down onto the ground, creating a wave of fire that hits everyone next to him. Back off when you see him charging this attack.
Strategy: Yet another ranged boss, but don’t underestimate him. He’s different from the other ranged bosses in that they had a tendency to miss you. If you don’t dodge The Blood Drinker’s attacks, however, he will be guaranteed to hit you every single time. The fireballs he throws are highly accurate, and explode on contact. In other words, make sure you dodge his attacks properly instead of half-assing it. It’s not generally a good idea to get right up behind him when he’s charging a ranged attack either, since his fireball attacks have a tendency to hit slightly behind him as he throws them. Just keep your distance when he attacks, and get your short combos in when there’s time. He goes down rather easily.

Boss: (The) Reaper
Location: Dead End Street, The Blood Prince (miniboss)
Appearance: a vampire with long white hair wearing a horned helmet and dark brown robe, wielding an arm-mounted spear and claw
Health Bars: 4
Difficulty: Average
Attacks:
-Tracking Attack: same as the one used by the Red Bearer.
-Dual Weapon Combo: punches you with its claw hand, then quickly spins around while swinging the spear overhead to hit you. This is pretty quick, tracks you, and has deceptively long range on the second hit, just like the Tracking Attack. Evade to the side to avoid it.
-One Two Punch: the boss goes into a windup pose similar to the one used by the Ashen prior to its Double Claw, then quickly delivers two uppercut attacks forward. Dodge to the side to evade as always.
-Sonic Stab: this attack is only used at a middling distance, when you are out of melee range but not far enough to warrant chasing after. The Reaper will draw back his spear arm and gather energy while tracking you, causing his spear to glow green. Then, he will stab forward with it very quickly, shooting out a spear of sonic energy to hit you. This attack is very fast and has a very long range compared to most melee attacks. However, constantly moving to the side and dodging when he uses it will cause it to miss. You should move in a counterclockwise direction to evade effectively.
Strategy: The Reaper is considered the toughest boss in Boat 3, in the sense that he’s really tricky to fight. His attacks are quick and have a deceptively long range compared to other melee bosses. You’ll have to use hit and run tactics, and constantly remain on the move. When strafing, always move to the right since his spear is on the other side of his body. One interesting thing about this boss: if you can lure him onto uneven ground like stairs, it’s possible to trick him into spamming his Sonic Stab. This attack has one weakness: it has no vertical range, and does not track vertically but instead always attacks in a perfectly level horizontal line. The result will be that he continuously misses you. However, it is hard to take advantage of this situation unless you are a Staff Evie who can use ranged attacks.

Miniboss: The Gravedirt
Location: Being from the Other World (miniboss)
Appearance: a vampire wearing a gray robe
Health Bars: 3
Difficulty: Easy
Attacks: the same as The Ashen. Also has the 180 Attack.
Other Notes: only spawns along with The Ashen .
Strategy: The same as The Ashen, only there are two enemies to worry about. It’s not much of a jump in difficulty, so you should be fine.

Boss: The Knight
Location: Being From the Other World, The Unveiling Truth
Appearance: a large vampire wearing a half-red half-black striped robe and a helmet, wielding an arm-mounted spear.
Health Bars: 5
Difficulty: Average
Attacks:
- Single Thrust: the starting animation is the same as the Red Bearer’s Straight Spear Combo, except the Knight only stabs once.
-180: same as the Red Bearer
-Fire Claw: same as the Blood Drinker.
-Fireball: the same as the Blood Drinker.
-Flame Slash: the boss sets his hand on fire and runs it along his spear, covering it in flame. He then slashes in front of him with the flaming spear, setting anyone he hits On Fire. This attack has a fairly long startup so it should be easy to get out of the way and run behind him for a short combo.
Other Notes: the Knight’s spear can be Broken Off. Five hits with a throwing spear will snap off his weapon’s Steel Blade so you can pick it up once the battle is finished.
Strategy: Okay! The Knight is basically a mishmash of every single vampire boss, being capable attacking at both close range and long range. However, he isn’t that tough, being more of a preparatory boss fight for the similar but more powerful Blood Prince.

Episode Boss: The Blood Prince
Location: The Blood Prince
Appearance: a large vampire wearing ornate metal armor, wielding an arm-mounted spear.
Health Bars: 6
Difficulty: Average
Attacks:
-Triple Spear Combo: holds his arm upright and emits a click, then performs between one and three attacks with the spear. The first two will always be stabs, and the third is a spinning slash that hits around him. He can change direction slightly between spear strokes. Dodge to the side to evade his stabs, and try to get behind him and pull off a quick combo if possible.
-Tracking Attack: similar to the Red Bearer’s, but the Blood Prince’s version of this attack always seems to turn him around 180 degrees. Just evade in the same general way, but watch out if you’re behind him.
-Crash Attack: the boss throws his head and arms backwards and leans back slightly, then lunges forward with a stab before throwing himself in the reverse direction with great force. He damages anyone he crashes into during the latter part of the attack. When you see this coming, dodge to the side and move towards his landing point without getting in the way. He has some downtime after he does this attack, so being close when it ends lets you get a good combo in.
-Fireball: the boss charges up a fireball in his free hand and throws it, just like the Blood Drinker and the Knight. And yes, it still sets you On Fire.
-Super Fireball: the Blood Prince again charges up a fireball in his free hand, but this time the flame is larger, engulfing his entire hand. The following attack has two parts: first, before actually throwing the fireball, he will spiral it around himself, hitting anyone standing next to him and setting them On Fire. THEN he will throw the fireball at a target. Get away from him when he uses this attack to avoid the fireball spin, and then evade it like a normal fireball.
Other Notes: it is possible to Break Off the Blood Prince’s spear. Hit the spear 5 times with throwing spears to break it and drop a Vampire Gauntlet. (Oddly enough, the Vampire Spear item is a random drop.)
Strategy: The Prince honestly isn’t too hard; most consider the Reaper a more difficult boss to fight. His repertoire of attacks basically makes him an upgraded version of the Knight. He is vulnerable for extended periods after his Crash Attack and when charging his normal Fireball attack. Just learn to distinguish between the two Fireball variations, if you try to take advantage of the latter. Like the Knight, a good opportunity to spear his spear appears whenever he charges up the Fireballs. By this point you should be accustomed to the cautious, strategic attitude necessary for bosses, so I won’t bother giving too much unnecessary exposition from here on out.
